In this paper, we derive a new family of eighth-order methods for obtaining simple roots of nonlinear equations by using the weight function method. Phosphorescence decays in naphthalene-doped poly(methylmethacrylate) are non-exponential at high dopant levels. Delayed fluorescence can be readily observed, and its long-time limiting exponential decay time is less than 1/2 that of the phosphorescence, suggesting an effective fractal spectral dimension of 1.0 to 1.6. Other methods of presenting the data are consistent with this observation. Evidence that these anomalous kinetics are not due merely to energetic disorder in these samples is presented.
